SCG Tour events and Star City Games Invitational Qualifiers award SCG Points. If a player is disqualified from one of these events, that player will not receive any SCG Points for that event. All terms, conditions, and/or benefits related to SCG Points are subject to change or cancellation at any time, with or without notice.
Learn more about how SCG Points are awarded at Star City Games Organized Play events.
The SCG Tour Seasonal Standings are used to determine point-based invitations to Star City Games Invitationals and to award byes and additional prizes to the Top 32 finishers in our Seasonal Standings.
The total of all SCG Points earned by each participant at all SCG Tour and Invitational Qualifier (IQ) events in both the current Season and the previous Season is recalculated on a weekly basis and posted to the SCG Tour Leaderboard.
All players with the same or more SCG Points as the 16th place player on the posted SCG Tour Rankings will receive two (2) round byes at any Star City Games Open event that takes place during that time.
All players with the same or more points as the 32nd place player on the posted SCG Tour Seasonal Standings will receive a one (1) round bye at any Star City Games Open event that takes place during that time.
If two or more players have the same SCG Point total in the SCG Tour Seasonal Standings, the tie will be broken as follows:
- 1st Tiebreaker - Total SCG Points earned in Star City Games Invitationals during the current Season
- 2nd Tiebreaker - Total SCG Points earned in Star City Games Opens during the current Season
- 3rd Tiebreaker - Highest finish in a Star City Games Invitational during the current Season
- 4th Tiebreaker - Highest finish in a Star City Games Open during the current Season
- 5th Tiebreaker - Second highest finish in a Star City Games Invitational during the current Season
- 6th Tiebreaker - Second highest finish in a Star City Games Open during the current Season
- Subsequent tiebreakers will utilize the same pattern outlined above.
Players that are currently suspended from participating in DCI-sanctioned events by Wizards of the Coast are not eligible to compete in SCG Tour or Star City Games Organized Play events. Players who are banned from Star City Games events are not eligible to attend events for which Star City Games is the Tournament Organizer.
Tournaments are classified as either open or invitation-only. Any player may compete in an open tournament as long as he or she is not currently suspended or banned from participating in DCI-sanctioned events by Wizards of the Coast, suspended or banned from participating in SCG Tour events by Star City Games and meets the general tournament eligibility requirements set out in the official Magic: The Gathering Tournament Rules. Only eligible players who have received an invitation from Star City Games may participate in invitation-only Star City Games events.
Invitations described in this policy may not be transferred, assigned, or passed down from one player to another and may not be deferred to future events. A player’s ability to participate in any particular tournament is subject to the requirements stated in all SCG tournament-related policies, including, without limitation, that each player meet the eligibility requirements for participating in that tournament and submit a signed competitor waiver. General tournament policies include Acceptable Behavior, Trading, Prize Policies, and Legal Notices. Except as specifically stated and described in this policy, invitations may not be renounced by players, and in the event that a player cannot (or chooses not to) use an invitation, the invitation will not be assigned to another player.
If you earn an invitation, you acknowledge and grant Star City Games permission to use your name and image for promotional or advertising purposes, including in the appropriate Tournament Invitation List. Tournament invitation lists are published online. Invitations, byes, and any other awards associated with those invitations or byes will not be officially awarded until complete event results are reported to, received, and verified by Star City Games. If a tournament official incorrectly or improperly issues an invitation or bye for any reason, Star City Games reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to withhold any and all invitations, byes, and other awards associated with those invitations or byes for an event.
Invitations, byes, and any other awards associated with those invitations or byes may be rescinded by Star City Games upon investigation. Any such decisions are final and cannot be appealed. Star City Games reserves the right to issue additional invitations and/or byes to players at its sole discretion.
